Biography

Dr. Nesbit’s current interests focus on innovative imaging, new therapeutic techniques and clinical treatment trials in acute stroke, intracranial atheromatous disease, cerebral aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations. He is currently an investigator on numerous aneurysm, intracranial angioplasty and stent therapy, and acute ischemic stroke trials, in addition to a number of MR and CT imaging trials. Dr. Nesbit is a prolific researcher, lecturer, and writer as a primary or co-investigator in 51 research grants, 124 invited lectures, 87 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and 34 book chapters. Nesbit’s teaching has earned him critical acclaim. He received the James MacMillan Fellowship award during his residency in 1990, the Golden Ray Award for teacher of the year at the Naval Medical Center San Diego in 1993, the Silver Hammer Award for teaching excellence in neurology at OHSU in 1997 and 1998, and the Outstanding Teacher of the year award in Diagnostic Radiology in 2000. He has served as fellowship director of the Diagnostic Neuroradiology fellowship, and is currently the director of the Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology fellowship and Director of Faculty Development for Radiology. Nesbit continues to serve on numerous Scientific program and Executive committees of several professional societies, including the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery (SNIS), and the World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology (WFITN). Nesbit enjoys along side his wife, also a Neuroradiologist, and enjoys his family, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, woodworking and skiing.
